   
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the first transmission
of the landmark comedy series ‘Blackadder’, UKTV Gold
created a celebratory weekend, a break through in digital television
packaging called ‘Blackadder@20’- the weekend featured
a selection of viewers' favourite episodes and a series of 12
specially commissioned inserts featuring members of the cast and
famous fans.
Blackadder is the general name for any one of the four BBC-TV
sitcoms along with a number of one-off specials, which are based
around the life of Edmund Blackadder played by the brilliant Rowan
Atkinson. Each series was set around a particular historical period
and had its own unique approach to raising a belly laugh.
Featuring specially chosen episodes by UK Gold audiences from
each series, various cast members and hard-core fans and admirers
were interviewed about their affection for the programmes. Cast
members included Brian Blessed, Miranda Richardson and Gabrielle
Glaister, while Blackadder fans included Steve Furst, Mickey Hutton,
Andre Vincent, Jenny Ross and Suzanne Cowie.
