DOCTOR WHO IS BACK
... Saturday 26th March 2005 is
a massively significant day in the Dr Whoniverse. After a long
absence from our screens, the world's favourite timelord returns
with the long-awaited debut of Christopher Ecclestone as the Doctor
on BBC1.
Leading up to this and to get you in the mood, UKTV Gold is showing
an all day event celebrating the best of the
first 40 years of the Dr and showing classic episodes of the series.
In addition there will be a series of short specially shot inserts
examining the origin and development of the show across the decades
and through the different doctors including William Hartnell,
Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker.
The day will end shortly before the new series airs on BBC1 with
the full story behind the cancellation of the series and the making
of the movie with Paul McGann almost ten years ago and will set
the scene for the return of one of the world's most enduring science
fiction heroes.
