Jenny Ross won the BBC Young Stand-up of the year competition in 1996 and joined
the BBC's flagship youth show, The Sunday Show on BBC2 soon after
where she hosted the Pop Desk and the entire third series with
her inimitable cheeky laugh and healthy disrespect for celebrity.
Her almost legendary Pop Pilgrimages were the highlight of many
a Sunday afternoon's viewing. In getting her hits out on Play
UK Jenny brought a wicked wit and hilarious repartee to bear on
the squalid pre-processed and packaged pop of the charts and took
no prisoners.
What Jenny Ross says about GYHO:
Get Your Hits Out was a mix of opinion, downright silliness and fake beards. There to remind people that pop videos aren't just to promote singles - they're for ripping the piss out of. And that's easy when you've got Kylie Minogue modelling a chip-shop fly curtain, Natalie Imbruglia riding a bike in heels and Jay Kay riding in a car with an Afghan Hound. Remember, stars aren't just there to live out our hopes and dreams - they're there to be lampooned. Got it?
