The Spiderman Story
Here is all you ever wanted to know about the wall-climbing wonder, Spiderman, in one bumper documentary. It traces the history of Spidey from conception as a Marvel Comics superhero - back in the days when such things were considered culty kids' stuff - to the big-screen phenomenon unveiled in the epic movie, which took a record $114 million on its opening weekend in the U.S. (it seems we're all culty kids now). Contributors include Stan Lee, creator of Spiderman; Sam Raimi, who directed the film; and stars Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and Willem Dafoe. There will be plenty of behind-the-scenes footage and even an insight into the corporate struggle for the soul of Marvel Comics in the late 1990s (Saturday, Ch5, 8pm).
