As a partner in Free@Last TV, Katie Kinnaird brings with her
a reputation for innovative and first-class filmmaking. Initially
working as a production secretary in the drama department of BBC
Scotland, Katie gained a wealth of experience working across a
variety of programmes including Takin’ Over The Asylum,
The Blue Boy and Tartan Shorts. A move to BBC Presentation
in London saw Katie work within TV promotions, then as studio
PA on the live links from the ‘broom cupboard’ for
CBBC, and eventually onto magazine music show The O Zone
where she combined her passion for music with that of television.
It was within BBC Music Entertainment that Katie quickly progressed,
learning her craft as a single camera director within The
O Zone, Glastonbury inserts and various singles,
including The Hot Press Awards, Back To Skool – Hip
Hop Special and Radio 1 Goes Mad In Ibiza. Katie
progressed to multi-camera studio and live music performance directing
on The Phone Zone and music discussion show, Inside
Tracks, where she also developed her now-honed editing skills.
Before departing the BBC, Katie had re-designed and was series
producing Inside Tracks for BBC Choice.
In her first year in the independent sector, Katie series directed
The Dog’s Balearics for C4 music, directed the
pilot and subsequent 55-part antiques & social-history series,
Revealing Secrets, for C4 daytime and directed 28 x two-minute
drama inserts for the groundbreaking internet special, Life
On Mars for E4.com.
Since founding Free@Last TV Katie has worked across most of Free@Last
Tv’s output in varying capacities. She has series produced
several productions, including a ten-part music and personal biography
series about Ibiza called Ibiza - Barefoot in the Med,
a ten-part biographies series Sex, Drugs & Ruck N Roll,
15 live-action comedy shorts, Come Play UK and Party,
plus a six-part fact-based music history series, Rock N Roll
Myths which she also directed, for Channel 4. Katie has also
produced and directed several single films, including a history
of the comic book character, Hellboy, a celebration of
the children’s work of Roald Dahl, The Wonderful World
Of Roald Dahl, plus an in-depth history of the infamous comic
character, Batman. In addition, Katie produced and directed
Once Upon A Time … a series of film introductions
presented by Alex Cox for an ITV4 Spaghetti western series, and
Executive produced the UKTV Gold events for Porridge @ 30
and The Vicar Of Dibley @ 10.
Katie is constantly involved in development of both ideas and
talent for future Free@Last TV projects. |
