Lonely Boy

“A nation that forgets its heroes will itself soon be forgotten”

'Lonely Boy' is a four part series into the slapstick, burlesque and double entendre world of comedy legend Benny Hill (1924-1992). A remarkable mix of intimate biographical detail, historical reconstruction and a fantastical exploration into the mind of a comedic genius. Written by Caleb Ranson (Creator of ‘Night and Day’, ’Diamond Greezer’, ‘Around the World in Eighty Days’).

Benny Hill, a super star in British culture for nearly four decades, has proved to be one of the great success stories of television comedy. ‘The Benny Hill Show’ is among the most-watched programmes in the UK; the audience reaching over 21 million in 1971. This figure was achieved when TV programmes had to be watched ‘live’ as there were no ‘catch up’, Internet or domestic recording facilities! Benny later became a global comedy icon when the series was distributed around the world. It is still being broadcast, in syndication, somewhere in the world today.

Now in active development, further announcements will shortly be made about future plans regarding this property.
